Being the first born of eight with parents who are peasant farmers in Namayingo District, it would have been difficult for Omondi Joflet to join the University despite the fact that he had obtained good grades. Joflet studied Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Bukoyo Secondary School in Iganga District and obtained 15 points. While at secondary school, he played football for the school team. His career goal is to become a Laboratory Technologist. He developed his inspiration from what happened to him when he had gone to the nearest health center II to test for his blood group, HIV status and hepatitis B. The Laboratory Technologist, who was there, performed the tests unprofessionally and released wrong results due to miss handling of specimens, wrong labeling and interchange of working procedures. He promised himself to be the best Laboratory Technologist in future and provide professional services to the people.

Akello Nancy is the third born of the seven children in her family. The father is a policeman and she lives with her mother in Ntinda Police Baracks. Nancy went to Cornerstone Leadership Academy on a scholarship where she sat for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations in History Economics, Geography and Sub-math. She chose to apply for Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning because it is in line with her vision which is “To surround herself with the social system (friends, family and environment), build relationships with like minded friends but above all preserve the integrity of the family unit because the basis for all societies is the family unit. After undergraduate program, Nancy wants to pursue a master’s degree because her career goal is to become one of the greatest Urban Planners. She dreams of working with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
Mulungi Damalie Rachel lost her father when she was a young girl in primary school. She was raised by her mother who is a Teacher in Rakai District. She went to Ndejje Secondary School where she sat for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations in Mathematics, Economics, Technical Drawing and Computer. While at secondary school, she played Chess and was on the school team. In her senior six vacations, she worked in a super market where she did sales promotions. Damalie is a source of inspiration to the children and youth of her community. Her career goal is to become a professional Land Economist & Surveyor.
Mirugwe experienced difficulty in raising fees since the death of his father in
2004. Although his mother is illiterate, she believed that the only way of breaking the poverty cycle was through education. She was only able to provide Alex with Scholastic materials. Alex was sponsored by Broadway High School because he was bright but economically disadvantaged. He studied Physics, Economics and Mathematics at Broadway High School, Kawempe in Kampala where he sat forUganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations and obtained 17 points.
While at his secondary school he participated in debating. Dr. James Mulwana (RIP) and Mr. Herman Kasekadde are his role models because of their contribution to the economy of Uganda. Joining Makerere University coupled with the support from The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program was a dream come true for Alex. His desire is to form a technology company in Uganda that will generate employment opportunities to youth who are facing a challenge of unemployment.
Akot Arkanjelo came to Uganda in 2002 as a refugee and he has been in the country for most of his education. He is the fifth born of six and the parents are peasant farmers. In Uganda, he started his education journey in Longamere Primary School located near Imvipi refugee settlement where he lived.
He attended Standard High School Zzana in Wakiso District where he completed the Uganda Certificate of Education in 2011. He went to Bishop Cipriano Kihangire Secondary School, Bbina where he completed the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education and obtained 15 points. Joining Makerere University is a big achievement for him considering his early education background. Arkanjelo’s career goal is to become a Civil Engineer and he is determined to contribute to rebuilding the war tone country- South Sudan.

9.0 COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AND EXTERNAL STUDIES
Adongo Sabella is the second born of eight and her parents are peasant farmers in Otuke District. She is a pride to her parents because she is the first child in the family to join University education. She went to Restore Leadership High School in Amuru District where she studied History, Economics and Divinity and sat for Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations in 2013. at Restore High School, she served as the Head of the Debate Club. Her career aspiration is to become a Teacher and she wants to specialize in teaching History and Economics.
As a teacher, she believes she will make a big contribution towards the education sector of Uganda. She plans to invest in a school that will be affordable for people living in her community.
Despite the death of both parents, Narinda Shirah was determined to work hard with the support from FAWE- Uganda that sponsored her throughout her secondary education. Shirah went to Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School for the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education where studied History, Economics and Geography and obtained 14 points. While at Nabisunsa Girls School she participated in sports and was in the valley ball team. Her Career goal is to become an Accountant.
Mbago Grace is the first born of eight children and the parents are peasant farmers in Kamuli District. Despite the challenges of school fees during his secondary education, Grace was always determined to excel in class. He studied Mathematics, Economics, Geography and ICT at Jinja Progressive Secondary School and obtained 14 points at the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education.
While at Secondary School he participated in Valley Ball and Football. His role models are Hon. Rebecca Kadaga Alitwala, the Speaker of Uganda Parliament and Hon. Salam Musumba, the L C V Chaiperson of Kamuli District because of the exemplary leadership skills. He wants to become a Teacher and contribute towards the improvement of education sector of Uganda. His dream is to work with the Ministry of Education and Sports and make contribution towards the designing of the curriculum to be more practical than theoretical. He believes that by emphasizing practical subjects, the unemployment level in Uganda will reduce because the education will produce more job creators than job seekers. Grace also plans to invest in a secondary school which he will open in his community.
