If the staff resource person and/or the volunteer are unable to resolve an issue, they are to contact the staff person responsible for volunteer involvement.
Performance Review The main purpose of the performance review is volunteer development as a means of assisting the volunteer to develop her/his personal and professional potential, and as a means of assisting the organization to effectively achieve its goals and objectives.
Volunteers meet with their staff resource person or staff member responsible for volunteer
involvement within the first 6 months of involvement to review the:
Volunteer’s satisfaction with the placement, activities, and environment Effectiveness of the orientation and training Supervisor’s satisfaction with the volunteer’s work Volunteer’s satisfaction with the amount and type of supervision Need for more information or training Following the initial evaluation, the volunteer’s placement and performance will be reviewed on an annual basis or as necessary to ensure that their needs and the needs of the program are still being met.
Formal Recognition Events: Volunteers will be recognized on an annual basis.
Informal Recognition Events: Staff resource persons of volunteers are encouraged to offer appreciation and recognition of volunteers on a regular and ongoing basis.
Specific and Particular Recognition: Volunteers whose work has a special impact or influence may receive special recognition.
Volunteer Resignation Volunteers resigning from a volunteer position with Children’s Resources on Wheels should give reasonable advance notice to the staff resource person and/or staff member responsible for volunteer involvement.
Volunteers are strongly encouraged to give as much advance notice of resignation as possible.
Volunteers will be invited to give their feedback regarding their volunteer placement by participating in an exit interview.
No Scents Children’s Resources on Wheels recognizes that some members of our staff and community are sensitive to scented products. Perfumes and strong odors can precipitate severe asthma attacks and other allergic reactions in some of our clients, staff, and community members. The Centre request that staff, clients and community members limit the use of perfumes, scented hair spray, cologne, aftershave and any other scented products out of respect for these individuals.
Nut Free Zone Foods that contain or may contain nuts are not permitted in the Centre or at our outreach locations. Many children have allergies and we would like to keep the snack environment as safe as possible. Please help us keep our locations nut free.
Use of Centre Equipment Volunteers may need to use equipment at Children’s Resources on Wheels (e.g. telephone, fax, photocopier, VCR, DVD player, computer, etc.) during their volunteer work. The volunteer’s staff resource person will arrange for training and orientation. Use of equipment for personal use is not permitted. Please do not use social media during your time with Children’s Resources on Wheels.
Volunteer Identification Volunteers are required to wear a source of identification (i.e. name-tag) that will allow the families we work with to identify volunteers.
Cell Phones & MP3 Players Volunteers are required to turn off their cell phones/ MP3 players during their time in the office. Phone calls can be made during your break.
No Swearing or Potty Mouth Volunteers are required to use appropriate language at all times and be a role model for our young participants.
