1 Outline the admission requirements for their selected academic program(s) at Valencia and/or their selected transfer  institution.

2 Calculate the cost of their education.  3 Explain financial literacy terms such as: budget, debt, interest rates, repayment options, subsidized loan, unsubsidized loan,  grant, scholarship, etc.  4 Develop a financial plan to fund their education.

5 Develop a personal budget.

6 CCE Feedback on SLOs  6/26/2013 If students learn these SLOS and nothing more, will we be satisfied?  Add SLO for financial literacy. Not satisfied.

On the 'Complete courses at a rate….'  Best we could do is project dates.  Many barriers to progres are essentially  unpredictable and to some extent unavoidable.

Many of these must be treated as on‐going processes more than outcomes at a fixed time.  Goals change, financial aid rules  change, life events arise.

These seem like they are things that will be constant throughout their time at Valencia.

Outline their goals using the SMART criteria.  Based on stated goals, students will take action toward their short‐term goals  (academic, personal & career).  Demonstrate through written essay and perhaps additional assessment.

Demonstrate the resources available by developing an education plan approved by Academic Advising.

Increase their awareness as well as develop realistic and meaningful goals by utilizing My Career Planner in LifeMap.

Explain the function of available resources.

Evaluate the feasibility of academic goals.

Develop a plan to reach their academic and career goals by completing the Education Plan (in the LifeMap tab) in the Atlas Lab.   Submit to an Advisor to discuss and tweak.

Have realistic expectations, measurable goals and easy access to information.

Have proper preparation / foundation skills, aware of and utilize advisors, confidence relating to purpose, knowledge of  available resources, real life experiences (internships) How to make connections with faculty / staff, communication skills / critical thinking.

Have multiple plans (it's okay to change), have academic options related to career goals, transferrable knowledge skills, 'jargon'  acronyms.

Know what financial aid will pay for, pre‐professional advisement, need for co‐curricular activities, groups in discipline areas.

Complete a self‐assessment of personal passion/purpose/path/growth.

Have an intrusive model, access to pre‐major requirements, pathways to exit academic programs.

Take exploration of academic plans seriously by 'buying in' with measurable goals.

Yes, I’m satisfied What about the idea of developing a sense of community (civility, connection, school pride)? Could also fit under personal connection. Everything currently under place seems to be more Pathway (Navigation) items. They’re not about establishing a sense of place.

Seems like the college and not a “sense of place”. Many of these itesm could move to pathways or navigation.

Do we really want just to 'articulate' academic behaviors or 'engage' in those behaviors?

There are many realistic, external barriers to 'engaging' in campus activities; work, child care, scheduling.
